Shimano SH-EX500 Adventure Cycling Shoes – SPD

The Shimano SH-EX500 is for riders who want to ride further, explore more and still be comfortable when the bike gets parked. It combines the pedal efficiency of an SPD cycling shoe with the walkability and grip of an outdoor shoe, making it a natural fit for touring, bikepacking, gravel adventures, e-bike riding and everyday exploring.

The ULTREAD EX rubber outsole has a chunky, high-grip tread that works properly when you're walking on dirt, rocks and uneven ground. The recessed SPD cleat sits further back on the shoe, helping make walking more natural and reducing contact with the cleat.

Shimano uses a Volume Tour last with more room around the forefoot, while the speed-lacing system and instep strap make it quick to get a secure fit. The glass-fibre-reinforced nylon and EVA midsole provides a stable pedalling platform without making the shoe overly stiff. Shimano rates it 5/12 for stiffness.
